Addressing the Needs of a Vulnerable and Disadvantaged Group: The Alzheimer's Patients

IDRAAC, in collaboration with Alzheimer's Association Lebanon and with the support of the Australian Embassy - Beirut, Lebanon Direct Aid Program (DAP), has launched a new project that offers young men the chance to receive free training and become certified caregivers for individuals living with Alzheimer’s.
Project Objectives:
- Address the needs of Alzheimer’s patients at home to avoid institutionalization.
- Reduce caregiver stress for family members by providing certified home caregivers, allowing family members to maintain their jobs without becoming unpaid caregivers.
- Enhance the capacity and vocational training of men to become certified home caregivers for older adults.
- Training Program: Recruited men participate in an intensive course covering essential aspects of Alzheimer’s and dementia care, focusing on specific learning objectives and skills, including:
Personal care
- Daily care
- Cognitive skills activities
- Physical activities
- Leisure activities
- Risk assessment techniques
- Safety and prevention measures
- Effective communication and problem-solving
This initiative aims to provide valuable support to Alzheimer’s patients and their families while empowering young men with meaningful career opportunities.
