About the Project:

This project provides humanitarian relief to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, particularly older people living in collective shelters and inadequate housing. The intervention focuses on three key areas:

  • Basic Assistance: Distributing in-kind, non-food items such as winter clothing and carpets to improve living conditions.
  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): Providing essential hygiene kits to ensure proper sanitation and prevent disease spread.
  • Protection and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS): Delivering group awareness sessions and individual consultations to help older people cope with internal displacement-related psychological distress​ .

The project is expected to support approximately 700 internally displaced individuals, while also engaging active older people to assist IDRAAC's outreach team with distribution activities.

Project Objectives:

Improve living conditions for IDPs through the distribution of essential non-food items.
Enhance hygiene and sanitation to reduce the risk of disease.
Strengthen mental health resilience by providing psychosocial support.
Promote community cohesion and reduce the risk of long-term trauma​ .

Where It Is Being Implemented:

The project is being carried out in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, focusing on collective shelters and substandard housing where internally displaced individuals are residing​ .

Donor Information:

This project is funded by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) through Age International and implemented by IDRAAC in collaboration with HelpAge International​ .
