Health & Protection Intervention for Syrian Refugees in Jordan & Lebanon
Health & Protection Intervention for Syrian Refugees in Jordan & Lebanon
IDRAAC implemented the project “Community-Based Health and Protection Intervention for the Most At-Risk Syrian Refugees and Host Community Members, in Particular Older People and People with Disabilities, in Jordan and Lebanon.”
This project was supported by HelpAge International and the German Federal Foreign Office.
The initiative provided humanitarian assistance to address critical gaps in healthcare, mental health services, and protection, particularly protection from gender-based violence (GBV). It focused on the most vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities and older individuals, while contributing to building crisis resilience among Syrian refugees and host communities in urban areas of Jordan (Amman, Irbid, and Zarqa governorates) and Lebanon (Beirut and Mount Lebanon).
IDRAAC's team of specialists implemented various activities as part of this project, including:
- Conducting mental health and social assessments through outreach and clinical team.
- Providing mental health consultations at the clinic
- Carrying out home visits by psychologists, social workers, and outreach workers
- Operating a 24/7 Mental Health Hotline
- Delivering awareness sessions
- Facilitating support group sessions
- Offering case management and referrals to necessary services
