The Rights of the Elderly Campaign

The Rights of the Elderly Campaign

As part of the "Towards the Human Rights Protection of a Vulnerable Population: The Elderly of Lebanon" project, implemented by IDRAAC with the support of the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) of the U.S. Department of State, we launched the “Rights of the Elderly” national awareness campaign to advocate for the rights and dignity of older adults in Lebanon.

Campaign Message
The campaign’s central slogan, "Don't lose your rights even if you lose your mental capacity" (7atta law dayya3et, ma tdaye3 7a22ak), aimed to empower older individuals to defend their rights while reminding their families and caregivers to respect and uphold them.

Campaign Activities
To maximize impact, the campaign utilized a multi-channel approach to reach a broad audience, including:
TV & Radio Advertisements – Raising awareness on respecting elderly rights.
Media Outreach – TV and radio interviews featuring IDRAAC experts.
Social Media & Online Campaigns – Spreading key messages on digital platforms.
Outdoor Awareness – Billboards, banners, and printed materials across Lebanon.
Awareness Booklet – Providing essential information on elderly rights.
Dedicated Website Section – Offering resources and support.
Mass Communication – Email and SMS campaigns to reach wider communities.
Hotline Support – A dedicated hotline was available throughout the campaign for older adults seeking legal, social, or health-related assistance.

Impact & Ongoing Commitment
Through this campaign, IDRAAC reinforced its commitment to advocating for the rights, dignity, and well-being of older individuals. Our efforts continue through policy advocacy, awareness programs, and direct support services for Lebanon’s elderly population.
